A classic Italian lever machine that will give your counter some class while still making an excellent drink!
The Elektra Micro Casa Leva S1 has been a fixture in small cafes and hobbyist homes for decades. Elektra is a venerable manufacturer of espresso equipment dating back to the late 1940s, and they have managed the unique feat of bringing their classic retro designs into the future with modern engineering and quality of life improvements. A little bit of the past, and a little bit of the present, the Micro Casa Leva S1 is a great way to break into the world of lever machines.
This is a spring-piston lever machine, allowing you to use both the pressure gauge and your own arms to control how much and when espresso is extracted and when. This technique hearkens back to the earliest machines in the 1900s of Northern Italy, but with some modern touches. There's no noisy pumps that could potentially break down here, piping hot steam and coffee water is extracted from a tough, pressurized vessel fueled by a powerful 1.8 classic brass boiler.
If you're unsure how a manual lever espresso machine might work for you we suggest you watch this video from Elektra:
